Annette grew up in Albury Wodonga, and has continued to call it home, raising her own family here.
Losing her teenage daughter to suicide in 2011, Annette and her husband Stuart made it their mission to raise awareness and support for mental health and suicide, shaking off the stigma and silence, and founding the Survivors of Suicide and Friends organisation.
In 2013 Annette and Stuart started the Winter Solstice event, a now annual event that brings the community together on the longest night of the year to create a public forum in which to support, enlighten and entertain. The following year in 2014 along with the Albury Tiger’s Water Polo club, Annette organised the inaugural Big Splash Event that sees local sporting and community groups along with businesses have fun in the pool, racing and raising funds and awareness for the cause. Having now raised tens of thousands of dollars for headspace with her work, Annette was a finalist in the inaugural Australian Mental Health Prize, 2016.
