Playing in the history making first AFLW game in February 2017 against Collingwood, Gab recalls the adrenalin, excitement and noise that blanketed the lockout capacity crowd at Princes Park.
Growing up in Albury, Gab and her family lived and loved the football. Playing Auskick on the weekends in primary school, the opportunity to go into a junior league as a female after 12 was not an option. Moving over to netball and soccer, Gab continued to play and excel at football in high school, but still had the desire to play in a league. Joining the Riverina Lions in the Canberra Women’s AFL competition, Gab clocked up many kilometers to play the sport she loved. Moving to Melbourne, she played with the Melbourne University Mugars for a few seasons before being scouted for the inaugural AFLW draft in 2016. Spotted and pursued by the Carlton Football Club, Gab was Pick No. 4, and 30th overall in the national draft.
Currently playing her second season at Carlton, Gab continues to be a major ball winner with her gritty and hard earned performances.
