Albury based Eliza is an elite athlete, performance coach, a mother, wife and a meningococcal survivor.
At the age of 16 after contracting the disease, life saving surgery saw Eliza left with two prosthetic legs and partially amputated hands. Both life saving and life changing, Eliza was set on a path of embracing life, health and performance.
In 2002, Eliza won Bronze in the women’s wheelchair 800m at her first major international competition, the Commonwealth Games. She went on to compete at the IPC Athletics World Championships that year and was named the 2002 Australian Junior Paralympian of the Year.
Since then, Eliza’s training and performance has only intensified with continued appearances at the Paralympics, Commonwealth Games and IPC Athletics World Championships with multiple podium finishes.
Eliza is the Director and face of Meningococcal Australia, which raises awareness of the disease. Eliza is currently training for selection in wheelchair racing at the XXI Commonwealth Games in April this year.
