Banksia eating spoon with crank

This hand-carved eating spoon with crank was made from Banskia integrifolia (Coastal Banksia) salvaged from storm damage at Nerriga, NSW.
A beautiful deep red colour wood, it’s been burnished with deer antler and finished in orange oil.
It measures 23.5cm long, and 3.7cm at widest point.

This hand-carved spoon is made from a Silver Polar Tree that I felled at Maragle, NSW at the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. Now before you get upset that I felled a tree to make a spoon, this tree is not native to Australia and therefore what I consider to be a weed.
After carving I baked it in the oven to give it a beautiful golden brown colour and have coated it in 2 coats of tung oil. It’s got my makers mark on the back. The luminous golden sheen of this wood is incredible!
It measures 40cm long, 8.5cm bowl at widest point.
