This axe was made with the help of master craftsmen. First, we took the design of our famous Large Carving Axe and scaled it to 90% of the original size. As a result, you get a tool that is easy to move but still has enough weight to work quickly. In addition to the size, we focused on the feel:

Better Grip: We updated the hickory handle to be slightly thicker. Specifically, we did this because our customers asked for a more comfortable feel.

Choose the Right Edge for Your Style
Next, you can pick a blade edge that suits how you carve. The standard axe has a double grind. This works well for almost any job. However, we also offer specialised carving grinds:

Right-Handers (472-V): Most people who use their right hand choose the “Left Side Ground” model. Consequently, the blade stays close to the wood for better support.

Left-Handers (472-H): Similarly, those who use their left hand often choose the “Right Side Ground” model for better control.
